History of the Captain John Moore Home:
One mile out of Bedford Center, on the corner of Concord Road and Warren Avenue, stands one of Bedford’s important old houses. Built many years before the year 1700, the old house has had a part in all the events which went into the making of this country. It was erected by the first settlers of Concord; it took part in the Indian Wars; it became the home of men who helped to form the new Town of Bedford. The Bedford Militia even met at this house before marching to Concord on April 19th, 1775. It saw the days of the foot paths and the log causeways, the coming of the first steam trains and the electric street cars, the building of the first macadam road for the first automobiles; and now, in its great old age, it sees heavy trucks carrying missiles and other spacecraft. Shorn of its fat barns and its fertile fields, it still stands proud and serene, a dignified relic of a once proud past
